"Less is more"
What is a minimalistic poster?
A minimalistic poster is a simple poster which usually includes one imagine and minimal text. It follows the theme/genre of the topic that it is based on (in this case a horror film) and doesn't give any details about the film, or gives very limited details.
What effect does it have on an audience?
A minimalistic poster is meant to draw an audience in and leave them in a curious state of mind. The more people it attracts, the more successful it has been. In the film industry, it is meant to appeal to a certain audience and make people want to view the film.
My minimalistic posters:
I created two minimalistic posters based on the film 'The Woman in Black'. In the first poster, I simply included the title alongside a recognised image of one of the main characters. The second poster includes more text and a small, discreet, image within one of the letters. I wanted the second one to be less dark and more intriguing, I reflected this in my extreme minimalist approach. I decided to include a quote from the film in a contrasting colour to give audiences an insight to the film.
