Basic outline of AS opening:
Our AS piece was a horror opening which involved two main characters - a male antagonist and a female victim. I feel like this reflects the ongoing issue regarding sexual abuse and kidnapping. As well as this, the storyline conformed to the stereotypical view that females are the weaker sex and males are aggressive and in some cases more dangerous than females.
Changes I would make:
To make my opening more pertinent to the world I live in, I would perhaps make the female seem stronger and less helpless. This would reflect the current uprising of feminism and the equality of both genders. I would change the cinematography by filming the victim from a mid shot, or a slightly lower down angle, to make her seem bigger and slightly more confrontational. As well as this, I would emphasise the narrative and perhaps include shots of the females home life and the actual abduction. I feel like this would make it more relatable and clear for the audience, making it seen much more surreal; in turn this would show the audience how much of a current issue it still is in todays society. During the credits I would add facts and statistics, this would make it seem much more realistic which would hopefully engage the audien ce into the film more and educate them.

| The female victim is shot from an above angle which belittles her and makes her seem helpless and less important. |

| During this shot I would consider adding photographs of male victims. This would subvert the stereotypical idea of females being weaker and therefore the victim in most scenarios. |
