The Protest (Penultimate Scene)

Our vision:
The finale of the Cupcake trailer is a protest which is condemning the suppression of women. A large group of young females will be marching passionately whilst holding banners and posters that I created.

Our inspiration:
Before filming this scene, we did lots of research into previous Women's Rights movements that had taken place. We especially looked into the posters and took a lot of inspiration from them. We found these posters especially inspiring:

The location:
When deciding on location for the protest scenes, we wanted somewhere plain so the attention was fully on the crown and posters. After looking around locations local to us all, we decided to use a space between two brick walls as it was plain and left a large gap for a mass of people to effectively flood through.

As well as this, this location had a rural look to it which made it look like a genuine street protest. In some of the above shots we found that the lighting was poor as the walls were blocking any exposure to sunlight. This meant that in some of the locations we would have to use artificial lighting and be well aware of the most successful angles possible at the time of day we would be filming. Another potential issue that we discovered were the windows within the shots. We did not want the windows in our final shots as it made it very clear that the filming was taking place within an educational environment. A positive of all of these locations is that they are all quite narrow areas, making our cast look a lot more full and effective; this would have a larger impact on the audience and in turn make it look more realistic.

Final shots:

I am really happy with the final shots of this scene. The shots are close up which really fills the frame up giving a surreal feeling. The buildings in shot do not look like a school building and the amount of girls used were perfect for our intention. As well as this, no further artificial lighting was needed as we filmed at midday on a bright day.
